20 weeks in. We're at the halfway mark. Phew!! Now let me tell you folks, pregnancy is not easy. I know some women do this for fun. Not this gal! No way. The moment we found out we were expecting was kind of a moment of rude awakening. I'll admit it, I'm selfish. Very. I like to drink a glass (or three) of wine every day, I like to do treadmill sprints, sweat 10 lbs off in the sauna, eat what I want and yup, you guessed it - get botox! But the moment that home test read pregnant, plus sign, two blue lines (yeah I took all of them) everything in my life changed.
I always thought I would be a cute prego chick not gaining any weight except for a teeny little baby bump. Nope, didn't happen. I've gained 23 pounds by the halfway mark. At this rate, I'm going to gain 46 big ones. OMG. Please slow down, weight!! Anyhow, it's been the best blessing of my life. 23 extra el bees and all.
I was positive that I was carrying a little boy in this belly. All the old wives tales pointed to painting the nursery blue. (Thank goodness we waited!) I craved savory over sweet, I'm carrying low, the ring swung in a pendulum instead of in circles (or vice versa, I forget), sex dreams like you wouldn't believe. Well turns out we might have a little tomboy on our hands because just last week we found out it's a little baby girl! I've always wanted a mini me. Honestly I didn't mind either way, I just want a nice little healthy munchkin on our hands. Pregnancy has already made me a little bit softer... well when these hormones aren't busy making me feisty! The maternal instincts are definitely kicking in. Thank GOD. I was a wee bit nervous. Usually I'm the wicked witch of the west!
Life is about to get interesting so I thought maybe now would be a good time to start documenting this roller coaster ride since I don't keep a diary. And well let's be honest, I like when people share comments and feedback about their experiences too. Just don't judge me. Because. That. Is. Not. Cool. I'm sure there are things I am not going to do right but hey no one is perfect and I think every good parent learns along the way.
OH and if you couldn't tell from the name of the blog post, the thing I miss the most moreso than champagne even is you guessed it, momma's botox. Oh and my waist and skinny jeans. One day. One day again in the future!!
